Sadly, things have only deteriorated in the two weeks since I posted the note below. In keeping with Governor Baker's decision to close the Massachusetts public schools through May 4th, the POSTunderground will also remain closed until then. We miss all the wonderful people we've grown so fond of seeing every Friday and wish with all our hearts for the continued good health of one and all.
Commander Hendrickson and I agreed this morning (March 12th) to suspend all events at the POSTunderground for the remainder of the month. Given recent developments, the choice was clear. We will not reopen until the current health crisis stabilizes.
We wish to thank each and every one of you for being part of the amazing POSTunderground experience. None of this would be possible without the support that the greater Brookline community has shown in so many ways. We are humbled by your generosity, and fear not! Life will get back to normal and the POSTunderground will get back to bringing great live jazz to the heart of Brookline every week. Watch this space for updates, and if you wish to receive the weekly emails, which will continue throughout Charlie Parker's centennial year, please drop a line to John Purcell at firstname.lastname@example.org.
